Notes on transcription
- The only substantial uncertainty is the residence, written across two lines as "Balla-kib / beragh", probably Ballakibberagh — the same place named as John Cowley's residence in the 1849 Quayle estate papers.
- Ann's surname is quite clearly written Hudgin, an especially useful additional variant alongside Hudgeon, Hodgson and Hutchinson.
- "Privately" may indicate the baptism was performed out of concern for a weak infant, rather than at the usual Sunday service — 19 August 1851 fell on a Tuesday.
